neon is a Swiss digital banking platform founded in 2017 and launched in 2019. It offers free banking services through a user-friendly mobile app. neon provides a free bank account, a Mastercard payment card, online payment options, and trading. They were the first to launch a digital joint account as well as a 0% investment savings plan.

There are no monthly fees, maintenance fees, or fees for card payments and withdrawals within Switzerland. neon‘s goal is to simplify banking and eliminate unnecessary fees for customers in Switzerland.

Challenge

The neon project has been developed with Holycode from 2019 onwards. The main challenge was and still is to deliver all the different features of modern banks in a regulated environment in combination with a modern, agile software development approach.

Solution

The neon founding team has built their development team with Holycode and have jointly improved the processes as the team grew.

Working in such a regulated environment in combination with agile software development has its quirks but we’ve always managed to find the right solution keeping the fast pace required in this very competitive space.

Impact

Today, the neon solution offers an app, a Mastercard payment card, trading functionalities, integrations into systems like E-bill and many other features and functionalities. In order to stay innovative and a leader in the neobanking, the team is always working hard on adding more features all the time.
