Challenge

Until summer 2021, Aroov and Flatfox were prominent competitors in the rental market, with Aroov based in Bern and Flatfox headquartered in Zurich. However, a significant milestone occurred when the two companies merged, resulting in a shift to Python as the primary programming language.

This transition posed a unique challenge for both teams, as not all members had prior experience with Python. Additionally, they had the complex task of managing a project with a vast database containing millions of entries, serving a large user base actively searching for apartments.

Solution

Operating under the unified Flatfox brand, the merged teams embraced a continuous learning journey, acquiring expertise in Django and TypeScript while efficiently maintaining and troubleshooting the platform. By September, the collaboration bore fruit as they released their first significant joint feature. This feature was quickly adopted and iterated upon, showcasing their ability to adapt and evolve in a dynamic environment.

With everyone contributing to all aspects of the project deadlines were met, and agreed-upon deliverables were successfully achieved. Team’s focus on speed and quality allowed them to swiftly release important features that met the market’s needs, ensuring immediate usability.
