The products are available on the Yamo web platform, but also in large scale retail companies such as Coop, Edeka, dm, Rewe and soon many more in Europe with delicious and ready-made food solutions for kids. With an amazing team from many different countries and backgrounds, Yamo is celebrating diversity, inspiring each other and defining unique and motivational culture at Yamo.

As an environmentally conscious company, Yamo is keen on sustainability and always trying to improve that area of their business as much as possible. “Buy One Save One” is one of the actions when you buy a pouch or a puree and it makes sure that one less plastic bottle ends up in the ocean. Together with Cleanhub, Yamo removes plastic waste from near the coast. For every Yamo pouch and puree buyed, plastic waste equivalent to a plastic bottle is collected from the environment and disposed of properly.

Challenge

The main challenge of our collaboration with the Yamo baby nutrition webshop was to build the whole system from scratch and to help the business team to understand how ideas can be transferred to reality. At the beginning Yamo had a WordPress ecommerce website built by an agency which was working to some point. The goal was to develop from within the organisation to have greater control of the features and processes.

The challenge was that we had already set a deadline when we had to go live with a new website and we had to carefully select which features we could develop.

Solution

There were many great ideas which we had to gradually introduce into the system during the years we continued to work on. At one point we had 20-30 services that were executing various tasks for our baby nutrition webshop, including:

  • receiving orders from website
  • processing orders from different B2B systems
  • sending orders to warehouses for distribution
  • tracking deliveries
  • tracking stock levels in different places etc.

Those services processed hundreds of communication messages daily that were handling B2C and B2B orders and packages completely. Whole system was covered by automated tests and alerts to notify us of stalls or inefficiencies in the process.
